New Life Ministry Church Web Accessibility Statement

New Life Ministry Church is committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of technology or ability. We aim to embrace inclusion and strive to ensure our digital presence is welcoming to everyone, reflecting our ministry's commitment to community.

Our Commitment

We are committed to increasing the accessibility and usability of our website, adhering to the internationally recognized standards: the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, as published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines are built on four principles:

  1. Perceivable: Information and user interface components must be presentable to users in ways they can perceive.

  2. Operable: User interface components and navigation must be operable.

  3. Understandable: Information and the operation of the user interface must be understandable.

  4. Robust: Content must be robust enough that it can be interpreted reliably by a wide variety of user agents, including assistive technologies.

Accessibility Features

We are continually working to improve our user experience and apply the relevant accessibility standards. Our current efforts include:

  • Alt Text: Providing descriptive text alternatives for all meaningful images and non-text elements so they can be read by screen readers.

  • Keyboard Navigation: Ensuring all areas of the website can be navigated and operated using only a keyboard.

  • Readability: Using clear, legible fonts, maintaining appropriate color contrast for text, and ensuring text can be resized without loss of content or functionality.

  • Headings and Structure: Utilizing proper HTML headings and semantic markup to create a clear and logical document structure for screen readers.

  • Media Alternatives: Striving to include captions for pre-recorded video content and transcripts for audio-only content.

Limitations and Ongoing Efforts

Despite our best efforts, we recognize that there may still be some areas that need improvement. We are actively working to address these known limitations:

  • Older Documents: Some older PDF or Word documents on the site may not be fully accessible to screen reader software. We are working to either remediate these documents or replace them with accessible HTML content.

  • Third-Party Content: Content or forms provided by third-party vendors (e.g., online giving platforms, embedded maps) may not fully conform to WCAG standards. We are encouraging our partners to adopt more accessible solutions.

We have an accessibility roadmap that prioritizes fixes and continuous improvement. We regularly review our website and train our content creators on accessibility best practices.
